For years, my sleeping position mirrored the sleeping position in foreign patent JP 2011-240098, which can contribute to cervical deformity. In this position, the person’s head is only supported on the forehead. In subsequent pictures, the person uses their arms to support their head. This posture causes the weight of the head to be inadequately supported, leading to the chin and jaw pulling downward while the forehead tilts upward in relation to the body. Over time, such sleeping habits can damage the vertebrae in your neck, much like what I experienced. Understanding the risks associated with positions like this is essential, especially for those considering options like surgical repair for sleep apnea.

The cervical deformity I experienced was the driving factor behind my invention of the Pure Prone Sleep mattress. When I filed the patent in August 2023, I was already aware that the numbness in my arm and tingling in my fingers were worsening. By December 2023, I was advised that I needed surgical repair for sleep apnea as soon as possible. The surgical procedure was successfully completed in March 2024.
